Olympic Passion
I can remember when I was very young and watched the 1988 Winter Olympics on TV. I got soo excited every time I saw a fellow Canadian in an event and cheered as hard as I could for them to succeed. It was this moment where I became determined to get to the Olympics one day and represent Canada in a sport I love to play. We have come a long way since those 1988 Olympics, and as an athlete we have recently seen a lot more support than we have ever had thanks to programs like Own the Podium. Specifically, we are starting to have our own training, equipment, and facilities that we have only seen in rival nations and these new developments are starting to pay great dividends. Canada is steadily climbing up the latter in Winter sports performances and recently had one of the best ever World Cup finishes. As a curler it is encouraging to see our fellow winter athletes doing so well and it motivates us to keep up! 'The Olympic Foundation' and 'Own the Podium' are truly making a difference in our potential for 2010. Thanks again for the tremendous support of many Canadians, you are definitely part of our team!

Thank YOU, John, for inspiring a new generation of Canadian athletes, just as you were inspired when you were younger. Best of luck to you, Kevin Martin, Marc Kennedy, and Ben Hebert as you pursue your Olympic dream.
